ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's basketball team returned to action Tuesday to take on Mount Mary University at the Seaver Center. The Regents came away with their first victory on the season by a final of 62-54.
Rockford and Mount Mary began the game trading basket after basket. With 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter Rockford went on an impressive 7-0 run to take the lead 22-15. The Regents surrendered the lead early in the second quarter but quickly regained it leading 39-33 at the half. Rockford never surrendered that lead the rest of the game, getting ahead by as many as 14 points at the end of the third quarter. The Regents ultimately won by the final of 62-54.
Talayah Gordon Scott (Rockford, Ill.) was outstanding for the Regents. Scott recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Also playing well for Rockford was Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.) who tallied 11 point with 8 rebounds. Also in double-figures for scoring was Taylor Davis (Mundelein, Ill.) with 11 points.
The Rockford University women's basketball team returns to action Saturday, November 28 to take on Dominican University at the Seaver Center with a scheduled start time of 2 p.m.
