Women's Basketball Drops its Final Road Contest

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team concluded the road portion of its season on Saturday at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. The Regents knew it would be a tall task to knock off the four-time defending NACC Champions on their home court; however, Rockford was able to hang in with the Warriors for a large chunk of the first half before ultimately falling 82-61.

Wisconsin Lutheran opened the game on a 11-2 run over the first three and a half minutes as the Regents were once again forced to play from behind. However despite its slow start, Rockford was able to pull back within five points just over midway through the half thanks to an 8-2 run of its own. Six of the eight points came from the Rockford bench as Taylor Davis (Mundelein, Ill.) knocked down a pair of jumpers while Katie Clark (Rock City, Ill.) made it a 19-14 game with her third basket of the afternoon. The Warriors answered right back with a quick 7-0 run of their own pushing their lead into double-figures for the first time in the game. Unfortunately Rockford was never able to cut the Wisconsin Lutheran lead back into single digits for the remainder of the afternoon and fell by an 82-61 final.

Katie Clark continued her excellent play down the stretch run of the season on Saturday. Clark notched her fifth double-double of the season including her third in the last six games. The senior scored 13 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds while blocking 3 shots and dishing out 3 assists.

Diamond Williams (Carpentersville, Ill.) scored in double-digits for the 13th straight game on Saturday. Williams tied for the team-high with 13 points and corralled 7 rebounds.

Amanda Davis (Mundelein, Ill.), Taylor Davis and Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.) each added 8 points.

The women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, February 17 for its final game of the season. The Regents will host the Benedictine University Eagles at 7:00 p.m. in the Seaver Center.
