CHICAGO, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team played just its second road match of the season on Wednesday when the Regents took on the Vikings of North Park University. The match was very close and competitive in the opening half before the Vikings took control in the final 45 minutes en route to a 6-0 victory.

In spite of the lopsided score, Rockford did play very well in the opening 45 minutes of the match. The Vikings broke the scoreless tie in the 12th minute on a shot in the top center of the net taking a 1-0 lead. The match remained 1-0 for the rest of the half thanks in part to excellent goaltending from sophomore Avery Jones (Tappahannock, Va.). Jones made 8 saves in the opening half en route to a season-high 19 saves for the match. However, it was not enough as the Vikings exploded for 5 goals in the second half as they went on to win by a final score of 6-0.

The RU women's soccer team returns home on Sunday, September 27 to take on Iowa Wesleyan. The match has a scheduled start time of 4:00 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
