MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Regents men's soccer team concluded its two-game road trip to open NACC play on Saturday with a visit to Wisconsin Lutheran College. Unfortunately it was the Warriors who would come out on top with a 5-0 win.
Wisconsin Lutheran struck twice in the first half as the Warriors entered the intermission with a 2-0 advantage. The opening goal of the match came less than 8 minutes in when Wisconsin Lutheran scored off a penalty kick. The Warriors added to their lead 15 minutes later on a breakaway grabbing an early 2-0 advantage.
Rockford was never able to get back into the match as the Warriors opened the second half with a flurry of goals. Wisconsin Lutheran found the back of the net three times in just over an 11-minute span to put the match away and seal a 5-0 win.
Rockford starting goalkeeper Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) made 11 saves in 14 chances bringing his season total to 51 saves. Beck currently has nine more saves than anyone else in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Offensively the Regents tallied just four shot attempts with Rockford's lone shot on goal coming off the foot of sophomore Tham Mana (Rockford, Ill.).
The men's soccer team returns to the field on Wednesday, September 30 at home against Edgewood College. The match has a scheduled start time of 4:00 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
