ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University volleyball team returned to action Tuesday to take on the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks. Rockford started fast and never looked back as they prevailed in four sets.
Rockford got out to a roaring start winning the first set 25-12. The second set was a closer game, but the Regents prevailed by a score of 25-23. Rockford struggled in the beginning of the third set and fell 25-16. The Regents bounced back quickly in the fourth set to ultimately prevail 25-20 and win the match 3-1. Leading the offensive charge for Rockford were Alex Storey (Dexter, Mich.) and Katie Fowler (Stillman Valley, Ill.). Storey tied for the team lead with 10 kills and added 3 service aces. Fowler tallied a double-double for the Regents with 10 kills to go along with 10 digs. Also, playing well offensively was Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill.) who had 7 kills to go along with 28 assists and 7 digs.
Leading Rockford defensively was Madison Lanquist (Rockford, Ill.) who recorded a match-high 19 digs.
The Rockford University volleyball team returns to action Friday, October 2 at Benedictine University with scheduled start time of 7 p.m.
