LOVES PARK, Ill. - The women's soccer team took the field on Sunday looking to bring its record back to .500 against MacMurray College, and they did just that. The Rockford University Regents dominated the pace of the game and came out on top, with a score of 2-1.
The score was not a direct reflection of the Regents dominance in the game. RU outshot the Highlanders 9-3 in the first half, and an astonishing 21-3 in the second half. Trailing 1-0 in the first, Lexie Collins (Earlville, Ill.) managed to find Erin Disanti (Rockford, Ill.) in the middle of the box, allowing Disanti to tie the game at one. The score would remain tied until 64 minutes into the game where Collins would score the game winner on a great ball from Giovana Ortega (Rockford, Ill.). Ortega had herself a quality day as she managed to play multiple through balls to teammates contributing to the teams scoring chances. Sarah Maguire of Webster University put together a nice game as she saved 17 shots, and managed to keep the score close. The Regents put together a great game and a win to show for it as they advanced to 3-3 on the year.

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The men's soccer team was still in search of its first win on the year as they faced off at home against the Webster University Gorloks. RU battled with Webster University for 90 minutes, but resulted in a scorless regulation. The Gorloks were able to capitalize in overtime resulting in a final score of 1-0.
The Rockford University men's soccer team came out strong, like they have in most of its matches, controlling the pace of the game and outshooting the opposition 6-1 in the first half. The Regents looked like they would break through with a goal, unfortunately most of the attempts were near misses. Erik Manriquez (Rockford, Ill.) had two near misses, one off the crossbar and one just wide. The Regents and Gorloks both went into halftime hoping to find a way to sneak out a win in the second. Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) started the second half in goal for the Regents, as he provided sturdy goalkeeping saving all seven shots he faced. RU's Cruz Marquez (Arvado, Colo.) looked to have the game winning goal late in the second as his shot rang off the post and rebounded back out. The second half was much more of an even battle for both sides, as each team recorded 9 shots. Regulation was not enough to decide a winner as the contest continued into overtime. The overtime period did not last long as it only took the Gorloks seven minutes to score. The overtime goal by Webster University drops the Regents to an 0-4-1 record.
