ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team (6-20, 0-11 NACC) lost 3-0 in the NACC match-up against Marian University (6-18, 3-8 NACC). The Regents fought hard in the first set, losing 25-20. Rockford was unfortunately unable to keep up, losing the next two sets 25-15 and 25-15.
- The first set started with the Regents on top 6-5, with a big kill coming from Mackenzie Blizniak.
- Rockford held the tight lead when Della Crain smashed a kill to make it 10-9.
- Marian and Rockford kept trading points until Marian took a 17-16 lead.
- The Sabres increased their lead to 20-18 late in the first set, Hanah Walther doing the damage for the Sabres.
- Smart plays by the Regents tied the first set, 20-20.
- However, the Sabres scored five consecutive points to take set one, 25-20.
- Marian got off to a hot start in the second set, leading 6-2.
- Jacey Wilson's hard kill brought the Regents within one, trailing 8-7.
- Marian went on a 10-3 point run, putting the Sabres up 18-10.
- Rockford tried to make a come-back, bringing the score to 21-14.
- The Sabres won the second set 25-15.
- The Regents set the tone in the third set, leading the Sabres 6-4. Kills hammered down by Della Crain and Nicole Eggers, as well as a service ace coming from Brooke Mirshak contributed to Rockford's efforts.
- Marian took a 9-7 lead with a kill from Monica Dreifuerst.
- Rockford answered back by scoring three consecutive points, regaining the lead 10-9. Jacey Wilson and Alicia Puente led the way for the Regents with massive kills.
- The Sabres went on a tear scoring ten points to Rockford's three, taking a commanding 20-13 lead.
- Rockford was not able to recover from the deficit, losing the third set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
The RU women's volleyball team returns to the court on Wednesday, October 30 at Alverno College. The match has a scheduled start time of 7:30 PM.
