ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (3-3, 2-1 NACC) took the 87-80 victory over Marian University (1-6, 1-2 NACC) Wednesday night. The Regents fought hard in tonight's win with the decision coming down to free throws as Rockford went 80% from the line, while the Sabres went 66.7% from the line. Rockford was able to capitalize on turnovers scoring 26 points off turnovers to Marian's 14. Jamar Rivera led the Regents offensive charge with 20 points and led the defense with eight rebounds. Brandon Emerick and Nathaniel Shead trailed Rivera closely with Emerick scoring 18 points and Shead scoring 17 points, respectively. Brandon Emerick's scrappy defensiveness propelled him to an outstanding eight steals. It was a tight race for most of the game, until Rockford took control in the second half and sustained the lead for the whole half cruising to an 87-80 win. 

• The Regents were the first to get on the board with a layup by Jamar Rivera.
• The Sabres took a 7-5 lead with a made three-point basket by Justin Wilson. 
• Rockford came back with a 16-15 lead in the first half from a Jamar Rivera jumper.
• The Regents gained control when Nathaniel Shead hit a crisp three-point bucket to put the Regents up23-16.
• Kivontay Shaw increased the lead to 32-24 after a three-pointer.
• Rockford sustained the lead, 41-31 entering the second half. 
• Marian kept chipping away, coming within three baskets in the second half, 43-37.
• Brandon Emerick gave the Regents life when he drained back-to-back three-point baskets to take a commanding 60-44 lead.
• Rockford's Nathaniel Shead followed up with a three-point basket of his own to make it a 63-46 game.
• The Regents kept pouring it on, taking an 80-66 lead off a Brandon Emerick three.
• Marian could not break Rockford's tough defense as the Regents took the 87-80 win.

• Jamar Rivera recorded a season high 20 points with 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
• Brandon Emerick recorded a season high of 8 steals with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. 
• Nathaniel Shead tallied 17 points, 2 assists, and a rebound.
• Vincent Eugene had 10 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, a steal, and a block.

 The RU men's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday, December 7 against Aurora University. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM in the Seaver Center.
