ROCKFORD, Ill. - Rockford University (3-4) loses a close battle to Olivet College (3-2) with a final score of 3-2. Unfortunately the Regents could not overcome two quick goals in the first-half by the Comets, leaving the Regents trying to catch up the entire game. The Regents fought hard but could not squeeze out one more goal to send the match into overtime.
- Olivet struck first early in the first-half when Joshua Rosendale found the back of the net in the 3rd minute.
- The Comets scored again in the 29th minute of the first-half with another goal by Rosendale, jumping out to a 2-0 lead.
- Rockford answered the first two goals of the match with a goal from Alonzo Carrillo, coming off an assist from Van Halvorsen in the 44th minute of the first-half making it 2-1.
- Olivet opened up the second-half scoring off a penalty kick from Dominik Burmeister. It would be the deciding factor of the game bringing the score to 3-1.
- The Regents were the last to score with a goal from Ryan Munch off an assist from Simeon Adesina. However, this was not enough as the Comets went on to take the 3-2 victory.
The RU men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 14 to face UW-Whitewater. The match has a scheduled start time of 7:00 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
