MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (3-15, 1-12 NACC) lost 79-38 Tuesday night at the two-time defending NACC Champion, Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors (13-4, 11-2 NACC). Wisconsin Lutheran led wire-to-wire, as the Warriors were in control pretty much the entire evening. Rockford trailed 26-10 at the end of the first quarter and 53-18 at the half. The Regents played much better over the final 20 minutes; however, it was not enough, as Warriors went on to win their twentieth straight game in the series.
- The Regents played toe-to-toe with the Warriors over the opening few minutes of the game. After WLC scored the first five points of the evening, Rockford used a 5-2 run to pull back with two at 7-5. Emily Cox scored all five of Rockford's points, including one of her three made triples.
- However, the Warriors quickly increased their lead with a 7-0 run of their own, to take an early 14-5 advantage.
- Wisconsin Lutheran built its lead up to as many as 17 points in the period, as the Warriors shot a blistering 70.6% from the floor and took a 26-10 advantage after one quarter of play.
- The second quarter was more of the same, as the Warriors outscored Rockford 27-8 to take a 53-18 lead into the half.
- Rockford tightened up its defense significantly in the second half, holding Wisconsin Lutheran to just 26 points. Unfortunately, the RU offense was still unable to find any sort of rhythm, scoring only 20 points over the final 20 minutes, as the Warriors went on to win by a score of 79-38.
- Emily Cox led Rockford with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including draining a trio of three-pointers. Cox also added 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
- Jazsmin Blue added 6 points, a team-high 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
- Sammi Russell finished with 7 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal off the bench.
The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Thursday, January 30 against MSOE. Tip-off is set for 7 PM in the Seaver Center.
