LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Regents men's soccer team (5-7-1, 3-4-1 NACC) faced Benedictine University (9-3-3, 6-1-1 NACC) in a very heated contest that ended in favor of Benedictine 2-0. Benedictine put on an offensive show with 21 total shots compared to the Rockford 9. Two of those shots by Benedictine would go for goals, one off a free kick and another off a corner kick. Despite the offensive pressure all game, the Regent's defensive line and goalkeeper
Jonathan Eduardo Rosales held strong, and while a very admirable effort, they could not convert it into goals, losing 2-0.
- The first shot on goal for Benedictine resulted in a goal off a free kick that was placed around the defensive wall and into the right side of the net. In the 21st minute Benedictine had the early lead.
- A very heated middle of the first half had teams being aggressive, and Benedictine would get a shot that would have gone in if not for a Rockford defender sliding in the way to make a spectacular team save, keeping it a one score game.
- The end of the half was about 30 seconds away, Benedictine had a corner kick. A solid line drive from the corner was misdirected and ended up off a Rockford defender into the back of the net, giving Benedictine an unfortunate second goal.
- The second half was more Benedictine offense, Jonathan Rosales would go on to make 7 saves in the second half, he finished with 9 total.
- Rockford finally found some opportunities trying to counterattack, moving quickly back down to the other end of the field. Despite some good looks, they were unable to convert them into goals, the final horn signaling a 2-0 defeat.

The RU men's soccer team will be home again this Saturday, October 16th. They will face top conference opponent St. Norbert at 2pm.
