LOVES PARK, Ill. - The RU men's soccer team (5-5-0, 3-2-0 NACC) found themselves outshot 26-8, but still came away with an impressive 2-0 win against Concordia University Wisconsin (5-5, 3-3 NACC) on Saturday. The Falcon offense had numerous opportunities to get on the board, but was denied each and every time by the Rockford defense. The Regents however, did an excellent job taking advantage of their limited scoring chances during the match. Rockford scored a goal in each half, one off a fast break opportunity and the other off a well-placed corner kick. The 2-0 win gave Rockford its first victory over Concordia Wisconsin since the two schools joined the NACC for the 2006 season.

• The Falcon offense put a lot of pressure on the Regent defense over the first 34 minutes of the match. CUW tallied ten shot attempts over that span, but fortunately, the Regents' defense, led by goalkeeper Jonathan Eduardo Rosales, rose to the occasion and kept it a scoreless tie. 
• Then in the 35th minute, Marcos Morales Hernandez lofted a perfect corner kick into the six-yard box, where Marcos Gutierrez headed it in, to give Rockford a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
• CUW again pressured the Regent defense early on in the second half. The Falcons had a golden opportunity to tie the match midway through the half, but a tap-in goal was waived off due to a Falcon player being offsides on the play.
• The Regents then capitalized and made it a 2-0 game in the 73rd minute. Miguel Gallardo dribbled past a pair of defenders and placed a perfect ball to Kacper Stepaniak, who found the bottom left corner of the net.
• Concordia Wisconsin had one final chance to get themselves back into the match late in the second half, when the Falcons were awarded a penalty kick at the 80:56 mark. Fortunately, Regent goalie Jonathan Eduardo Rosales rose to the occasion, and denied the Falcons' shot attempt, to keep it a 2-0 Regent lead. 
• The Falcons were unable to muster a shot on goal for the remainder of the match, as Rockford held on for an impressive 2-0 victory.

• Marcos Gutierrez scored the game-winning goal on his only shot attempt of the match.
• Kacper Stepaniak came off the bench to lead the Regents with 2 shots, including scoring his first collegiate goal.
• Marcos Morales Hernandez and Miguel Gallardo each had an assist.
• Jonathan Eduardo Rosales made 7 saves and recorded his first shutout of the season. 

The RU men's soccer team will host Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday, October 6 at Wedgbury Stadium. Kickoff between the Regents and Cougars is set for 6 PM.
