PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Regents men's soccer team (5-6-1, 3-3-1) played the Lakeland University Muskies (3-6-2, 2-5-1) to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Saturday afternoon. Statistically, neither team had much of an advantage in the match. Rockford outshot Lakeland 17-12, but had just a slight 7-5 edge in shots on goal. The Regents also held a slim 9-8 lead in corner kicks. However, despite all of the shot attempts, both teams struggled to find the back of the net. The game remained scoreless until the 64th minute, when both teams scored a goal. Neither team was able put another goal on the board the remainder of the way, as the match ended in a tie in double overtime.
- It was a fairly quite first half offensively for both teams, as the Regents and Muskies combined for just two shots on goal.
- The Regents' lone shot on goal in the first half came early on in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, Javier Palacios's shot attempt was stopped by the Muskie defense, as the match entered the half in a scoreless tie.
- The second half featured a flurry of goals over a 19-second span in the 64th minute.
- Rockford struck first when Miguel Gallardo scored his second goal in as many matches at the 63:28 mark, to give his team a 1-0 lead.
- However, the lead lasted just 18 seconds, as Carson Galla found the back of the net at the 63:47 mark, to tie the match at 1-1.
- Rockford's Javier Palacios and Simeon Adesina each had a shot on goal during the remainder of regulation, but unfortunately, each came up empty.
- Lakeland also had a pair of shots on goal over the final 26 minutes, but Rockford goalie Jonathan Eduardo Rosales and the rest of the Regent defense was there to thwart the Muskie attack and send the match into overtime.
- The first overtime period was largely uneventful, as Lakeland took the lone shot in the period, which was saved by Jonathan Eduardo Rosales.
- The second overtime period was dominated by Rockford. The Regents outshot the Muskies 7-0, including a 3-0 edge in shots on goal.
- Miguel Gallardo and Abraham Gonzales fired back to back shots in the 106th minute, but were denied both times by Lakeland keeper Zach Heiman.
- Rockford's final shot on goal came in the 108th minute. Unfortunately, Lorenzo Amador's shot was saved and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

The RU men's soccer team is back home on Wednesday, October 13 to face Benedictine University. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
