ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (0-3, 0-2 NACC) fell in straight sets Tuesday night to the Aurora University Spartans (3-2, 2-0 NACC). Rockford dropped the first set 25-7, before falling 25-8 in the second and 25-12 in the third. The Regents struggled to get going offensively, as Rockford was held to only 11 kills on the night.
- Rockford's Connor McNear and Nathan Vana had a combined three kills to put the Regents on top 3-2 in the beginning of the first set.
- However, Aurora scored the next seven points taking a 9-3 lead.
- Unfortunately, the Regents would only score four more times, dropping the first set 25-7.
- Rockford struggled to turn things around in the second set, quickly falling behind 16-5.
- Matthew Seger's two kills along with Nathan Vana's added kill was not enough as the Spartans took set two 25-8.
- The Regents started the third set leading 2-1 with the help of a kill coming from Jeremy Weaver.
- The Spartans once again rallied for a 9-1 run making it tough for the Regents to get back in the game.
- Errors made by Aurora allowed Rockford to come within five points with a score of 11-6.
- Ultimately, Rockford's efforts were not enough, falling 25-12 in the third set and losing the match 3-0.
The RU men's volleyball team returns to the floor Thursday, February 25 against Concordia Chicago. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM in the Seaver Center.
