FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (2-7, 2-6 NACC) picked up its biggest win in program history on Friday night with a 3-2 upset victory at Marian University (7-2, 6-2 NACC). The Sabres entered Friday's match just a game out of first place and were receiving votes in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Poll. However, the Regents were not intimidated and took down the Sabres in a thrilling five-set match, 25-19, 10-25, 17-25, 27-25, 15-13. Rockford also set a plethora of school records on Friday night. As a team, Rockford broke school records in kills (55), assists (50), assists per set (10.00), attack attempts (144) and tied the school record for kills per set (11.00). • Fortunately, Nathan Vana quickly erased the match point with one of his season-high 13 kills.
  • The Sabres again had another point at 25-24, but promptly served the ball into the net, to once again tie the set at 25-25.

  • The fifth set highly-competitive and was played within a span of just four points.
  • With the set tied at 9-9, the Sabres ran off two straight points, thanks to a kill and a service ace, to take their largest lead of the set.
  • However, Rockford would bound and determined to come away with a win. The Regents promptly scored the next three points to retake the lead. Connor McNear tied the match with a service ace and Jett Stewart gave Rockford the lead with a kill.
  • The two schools would then trade points until the set was again tied at 13-13.
