ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (3-7, 3-6 NACC) came out on top 3-0 in Tuesday night's win against the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors (0-9, 0-9 NACC). The Regents were no match for the Warriors, taking all three sets by a score of 25-13. For the first time in school history, Rockford has won three NACC men's volleyball matches in a row. The Regents let the Warriors make mistakes and capitalized to come away with the victory.
- In the first set, Rockford was dominating from the beginning taking an early 13-5 lead. Kills from James Davenport and Connor Harn with the help of service aces from Matthew Seger and James Davenport were able to propel the Regents.
- After some back-and-forth scoring, the Warriors came within five points of the Regents, down 16-11.
- However, Rockford went on a 9-2 run with kills from Jett Stewart, James Davenport and an ace from Kenneth Lauderdale to take set one, 25-13.
- Set two was more competitive with Rockford taking a 9-7 lead with kills by James Davenport, Nathan Vana and Matthew Seger.
- The Regents sustained the lead taking advantage of mistakes by the Warriors. Rockford finished off the set with a 13-4 run highlighted by kills from James Davenport and Matthew Seger to win set two 25-13.
- Wisconsin Lutheran took a 5-3 lead early on in the first set.
- Rockford rallied for an 11-3 run with kills from Jeremy Weaver and James Davenport to take the lead 14-8.
- The Regents dominated for the rest of the set and the Warriors were not able to recover, giving the Regents a third set win 25-13 and a 3-0 match win.
The RU men's volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 30 against Concordia University Wisconsin. First serve is set for 7 PM inside the Seaver Center.
