ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (3-7, 3-6 NACC) fell in straight sets on Tuesday evening to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (4-7, 4-5 NACC). Rockford dropped the first set 25-18, before falling 25-15 in the second and 25-16 in the third. The Regents struggled to get anything going offensively before falling 3-0 to the Falcons.
- The Falcons set the pace in the first set, leading the Regents 6-3.
- Rockford tried to get something going with kills from James Davenport, Matthew Seger, Nathan Vana and Connor Harn.
- However, the Regents kept trading points with the Falcons but could not manage to take a lead the entire set, losing the first set 25-18.
- The second set started much like the first one with the Falcons taking an early 6-1 lead from a 6-0 run.
- Nathan Vana had four kills for the Regents through a stretch of points being traded back-and-forth but Rockford was still down six points, 13-7.
- Rockford still came up empty as it was unable to compete with the Falcons in the second set, falling 25-15.
- The Regents turned it around in the third set, going on a 6-1 run to lead the Falcons 6-2. The run was highlighted by five straight kills by Matthew Seger, Nathan Vana and James Davenport.
- The Falcons regained the lead 8-7 with a 6-1 scoring run of its own.
- Rockford was able to tie it at 12-12 scoring three straight points with Nathan Vana accounting for one of those points with a kill. But, that was the closest the Regents would come within overtaking the Falcons, dropping the third set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
The RU men's volleyball team returns to action on Friday, April 2 at Edgewood College. First serve is set for 7 PM.
