LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (0-2, 0-2 NACC) was shutout 1-0 at home Sunday night against the Aurora University Spartans (1-0, 1-0 NACC). The Regents and Spartans were locked in a tight, hard-fought match for most of the night. Aurora outshot Rockford 18-2 with 11 of those shots on goal. Maverick Attwood played well for the Regents in goal with 10 saves on the night. Unfortunately, the Regents could not find many offensive opportunities.
- Aurora had the first scoring opportunity of the match in the 9th minute. However, Maverick Attwood in goal for the Regents denied Aurora's first shot with a save.
- In the 66th minute, the Spartans scored the first goal of the match. Aurora's Leandro Deagueros kicked it into the net off of a rebounded saved shot.
- The Regents tallied two shots on goal late in the match.
- The first was by Adam Pedro and the second a shot by Joshua De Avila. Unfortunately, Rockford came up empty on both attempts.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was unable to score for the remainder of the match and fell 1-0.
The RU men's soccer team returns to the field on Wednesday, March 24 at home against Concordia University Chicago. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
