MEQUON, Wis. - The RU baseball team (5-6) dropped both its games on Sunday afternoon at Concordia University Wisconsin (7-2). Rockford fell 13-2 in the opener and 14-4 in the nightcap. The Regents actually led in both games, but were ultimately done in by the big inning. The Falcons scored at least three runs in five different innings throughout the day.
Game 1
- Rockford struck first with a single run in the top of the first inning.
- Hunter Fiorito led off the game with a triple down the right field line and put himself in scoring position with no one out.
- Two batters later, Jared Herzog drove in Fiorito on an RBI groundout, to give the Regents a 1-0 lead.
- The Falcons would take their first lead of the day after a five-run second inning. CUW took advantage of three walks and a pair of doubles, to plate five runs and take a 5-1 lead.
- The Regents answered with a single run of their own in the top of the third. Hunter Fiorito, Jordin Lee and Jared Herzog all walked to load the bases with no one out.
- A couple of batters later, Troy Tucci was hit by a pitch, forcing in Fiorito, to make it a 5-2 game.
- Unfortunately, that is as close as Rockford would get. The Falcons tacked on four unearned runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth en route to a 13-2 win.
Game 2
- Rockford again took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- Hunter Fiorito reached on an error and then stole second to put himself in scoring position with no one out.
- Three batters later, Christian Garcia came through with a clutch two-out RBI single, to give the Regents a 1-0 lead.
- The Falcons would once again use a big second inning to take the lead. CUW scored three unearned runs off just two hits and took advantage of a costly error to jump in front 3-1.
- Rockford cut the Falcon lead in half with an unearned run of its own in the top of the third.
- Phil Hyland reached on a throwing error to lead off the inning and then scored two batters later on a Christian Garcia RBI double.
- However, the Falcons would score three runs in the bottom of the third for the second straight inning and extend their lead to 6-2.
- CUW then tacked on two more runs in the fifth and an unearned run in the sixth, to make it a 9-2 game.
- Rockford would score its final two runs of the day in the top of the seventh.
- Christopher Connolly reached on an error to begin the inning, and then Hunter Fiorito doubled to put runners on second and third with no one out.
- Connolly ended up scoring on a wild pitch and cut the Falcon lead to 9-3.
- Phil Hyland followed with an RBI single back up the middle, to make it a 9-4 game.
- Unfortunately, CUW scored five runs off just two hits in the bottom of the seventh and won the game by a final score of 14-4.

The RU baseball team returns home on Wednesday, March 31 against Wisconsin Lutheran College. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 PM at Rivets Stadium.
