RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team (0-2, 0-2 NACC) fell 3-0 in both matches of Sunday afternoon's doubleheader against the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (2-0, 2-0 NACC). Although the Regents were unable to win a set, Rockford continued to improve in both matches as the sets went along. Unfortunately, the Regent's efforts were not enough, as the Cougars came out on top in match one (25-10, 25-14, 25-20) and match two (25-14, 25-21, 25-22).
Match 1
- The Regents started strong in the first set, leading the Cougars 5-3 after service aces from Della Crain, Nicole Eggers and a kill from Charisma Palmer.
- However, the Cougars battled back to take a 7-5 lead after scoring four straight.
- Rockford would come within two, but Concordia Chicago shut the door with a 12-0 run, taking the first set 25-10.
- The second set started with an early 4-3 lead for the Regents.
- The Cougars eventually took an 8-5 lead, but the Regents came right back to tie it with a 3-0 run. Jacey Wilson added a kill to keep the Regents in the set.
- Concordia Chicago went on a 13-3 run and the Regents were not able to recover, dropping the second set 25-14.
- The Regents were down by four to start the third set when it went on an impressive 8-0 run to lead 9-5. Della Crain with two kills and Jessica Witkowski with a couple of aces led the charge for the Regents.
- After back-and-forth scoring opportunities, the Cougars used a 10-2 run to take a 21-15 advantage.
- Rockford made a push at the end with a 5-1 run to be within two points, but the Cougars scored the next three to win the third set 25-20, and the match 3-0.
Match 2
- Concordia Chicago was in control of the first set early, taking a 7-4 lead.
- The Regents came within one point of the Cougars but couldn't get much started, losing the first set 25-14.
- The Cougars opened up the second set with an 18-5 run to take an early 13-point lead.
- Rockford fought hard to hold the Cougars, going on a 16-6 run to trail by three points. A team effort by the Regents was established by kills coming from Amelia Rehberg, Jennifer Quintas and Nicole Eggers. Service aces from Jessica Witkowski and Brynn Atwell, along with blocks from Alyssa Ashford, Nicole Eggers and Jaszmin Minneyfield propelled Rockford's come-back.
- Unfortunately, the Regents couldn't finish it off, falling 25-21 in the second set.
- The Regents were able to create some space in the third set with a 6-2 run to lead 11-8.
- The lead changed seven more times as both teams battled to gain an advantage. Unfortunately, the advantage would be in favor of the Cougars after it went on a 6-2 run to take a 24-21 lead.
- Rockford was unable to stop Concordia Chicago, dropping the final set 25-22, and the match 3-0.

The Rockford University women's volleyball team returns to the court on Saturday, March 13 for its first home doubleheader of the season against Dominican University. The match has a scheduled start time of 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM inside the Seaver Center.
