BELOIT, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team (1-2) fell 3-0 on the road Saturday afternoon to the undefeated Beloit College Buccaneers (2-0-2). The Regents played well against a Buccaneer team that has already tied two NACC schools and soundly defeated another by four goals. Rockford trailed just 1-0 at the intermission, but unfortunately, ran out of steam in the second half. The Regents surrendered a pair of second half goals and fell by a final score of 3-0.
- The first half got off to a fast start, as there were a combined four shot in the first ten minutes. Rockford's Samara Tanchuck took the first shot of the match, but unfortunately, missed high and right. Beloit took the remaining three shots, but also came up empty each time.
- Beloit's Makenna Downing broke the scoreless tie in the 30th minute, when she found the lower right corner of the net and gave her team a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
- The Buccaneers added an unassisted goal by Natalie Ortiz in the 61st minute, to extend their lead to 2-0.
- Beloit tacked on one final unassisted goal in the 75th minute. Cailee Smith scored in the upper left side of the net to give her team the 3-0 victory.
The RU women's soccer team will be back at home on Wednesday, September 15 to open NACC play against Alverno College. The match has a scheduled start time of 7:30 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
