LOVES PARK, Ill. - A Saturday afternoon thriller at Wedgbury Stadium saw the Rockford Regents (3-3-0, 1-0-0 NACC) comeback to edge out conference foe Marian (3-4-0, 0-2-0 NACC). It was an early strike from Marian's Guiliano Corazzina (Drew Cowden) that saw the Regents go down 1-0, but a second half surge with Rockford scoring in the 55th and 70th minute off goals by Javier Palacios (Pedro Acosta) and Jeremiah Tobar sealed the Sabres' fate.

• The two teams were virtually inseparable on the stats sheet and on the pitch, neither side willing to give in.
• It would be in the 14th minute that Marian would catch a break and a ball would sneak by the goalkeeper Maverick Attwood, giving them a very early lead.
• Miguel Gallardo would take a beautiful shot in the 17th, but it would be parried away by the goalkeeper Cervantes.
• Shots by Marian had great opportunities to score, but were denied by Maverick Attwood, not willing to give another goal to the Sabres.
• The second half would end with the score sitting at 1-0, Marian leading.
• Starting the second half, balanced shots between both sides would not test the goalkeepers.
• 10 minutes in, Javier Palacios would receive a great pass from Pedro Acosta, dance around a defender, and placed the ball in the back of the net, getting the Regents back into the contest.
• Maverick Attwood would hold the Regents in the game with 2 more great saves.
• in the 70th minute, a ball bouncing towards the goalkeeper would be met by Jeremiah Tobar, who would get to the ball first and tip the ball over the hand of the goalkeeper, landing the ball in the net, giving the Regents exactly what they hoped for, a second goal to take the lead.
• Marian would not go down without a fight, pounding the Regents net, forcing Attwood to record 2 more great saves.
• It would be a heated battle as Marian tried their absolute best, but could not beat the Rockford defense, time ticking down.
• Rockford would clear the ball and run the clock down, finally hearing the whistle, securing their first conference victory of the season.

• Javier Palacios and Jeremiah Tobar recorded the two Regents goals.
• Pedro Acosta recorded an assist on the Palacios goal.

The RU men's soccer team will head on the road again to Edgewood College for their first road NACC game of the season. They will be kicking off at 7pm on September 22nd in Madison, WI.
