LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford women's soccer team (2-3-0, 1-1-0 NACC) was unable to hold of Marian (2-3-1, 2-0-0 NACC) in a Saturday afternoon contest. It was a weird match for sure, an oen goal on both sides of the ball and plenty of action kept the game interesting. The Regents would lead after a Marian own goal, but would soon see it erased after giving up 5 unanswered. Elizabeth Elison would be the highlight of the night, as she would face 44 total shots, 21 of them on goal, and come out the other side with 17 saves, despite the scoreline.

• It was a shot-fest for the Marian offense, tallying 9 shots in the first 16 minutes. Elison would make 4 saves ehile the others were off target.
• The Regents would find a surprise goal as a cross deflected off a Marian defender on a miscommunication. The goalie couldn't react and the ball rolled into the back of the net, giving the Regents the lead early 1-0.
• Ashley welk would find the response at the 33 minute mark, slotting a ball past Elison and evening the score 1-1.
• 5 more shots on Elizabeth Elison, 3 of them saves, would bring the first half to a close at 1-1.
• With the second half underway, Marian would keep up the pressure on goal until the Regents finally took a shot of their own at the 50 minute mark.
• It would only be two minutes later when an attempt to clear the ball from the box would be kicked in the wrong direction and end up in the Rockford net. An own goal gave Marian exactly what they needed, and they would go up 2-1.
• In the 64th, Sophie Giron sent a pass to Amanda Sincere, who would rifle a shot past the defense and give Marian some needed insurance late in the match.
• The pressure would continue except for a run by Joleen Alvarado who took a shot on the right that looked promising but would sail over the net.
• That continued pressure would pay off on a cannon shot from over 25 yards out that would catch the Rockford defense napping, perfectly placing it in the top of the net to make it 4-1.
• With the clock winding down for the Regents, a last minute collapse would net one more goal off a pass, Securing the win, 5-1.

• Mia Ostler led the team in shots with 3, one of them on goal
• Bianca Tovar recorded one shot on goal to round out the offense
• Elizabeth Elison came away with 17 saves in the game. 

The RU women's soccer team gets set for more NACC play as they will host Edgewood College at home on September 22nd at 7PM.
