LISLE, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought match 2-0 on the road Wednesday evening to the Benedictine University Eagles. Rockford was within striking distance the entire way and statistically played a near even match with the Eagles for much of the day. Benedictine had just a slight edge in shot attempts in the first half (8-6) but pulled away late in the second and eventually outshot Rockford (23-11). However, shots on goal were near even from start to finish, with the Eagles holding a narrow 12-7 advantage. Unfortunately, it was Benedictine that found the back of the net in the 26th and 61st minutes and escaped with the win. Rockford continued to show signs of improvement though, as the Eagles' two-goal margin of victory was the smallest in the series since both schools joined the NACC in 2006.
- Xitlali Sanchez broke the scoreless tie and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
- The score remained unchanged until the 61st minute, when Olivia McPherson found the back of the net and put Benedictine out in front 2-0.
- Rockford did however have multiple chances to cut into the Eagle lead over the final 30 minutes.
- The Regents had five shots on target the remainder of the game, including successive shots over a 14-second span.
- Unfortunately, the Eagle keeper was able to thwart all of Rockford's attempts, as Benedictine held on for the 2-0 win.
- Elizabeth Elison finished with 8 saves during her 45 minutes in goal.
- Samara Tanchuck tied for a match-high with 6 shots, including 2 shots on goal.
- Mia Ostler tallied 3 shots and a team-high 3 shots on goal.
