Women's Soccer Drops Tight Match to WLC

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team fell 2-0 at home on Saturday afternoon to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. Statistically the match was pretty close, with WLC only holding a 10-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Unfortunately, the Warriors were able to net a pair of early first-half goals and then hold on for the 2-0 victory.

Recap Recap

  • The Warriors tacked on another goal in the 13th minute off a Brooke Bluhm shot into the upper right corner of the net, giving WLC a 2-0 advantage.
  • Neither team was able to muster anything for the remainder of the half, as Wisconsin Lutheran took a two-goal advantage into the break.
  • Rockford was able to put some pressure on the Warriors in the second half, outshooting them 4-2, including a 3-0 edge in shots on goal.
  • Vanessa Montenegro had the first look at the net in the 58th minute but was denied by the WLC goalkeeper.
  • The Regents then had a pair of shots on goal in the final minute of the match from Samara Tanchuck and Rianna Tovar, but unfortunately, came up empty, as the Warriors held on for the 2-0 win.
