ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team played a very close contest with the CUC Cougars on Wednesday evening. Despite getting out-shot 15-9, the Regents had plenty of opportunities to score before the final whistle. CUC held an early lead and took it into halftime, adding a second goal late in the second half to walk away victorious 2-0 after 90 minutes.
- CUC managed to score right at the start of the match. Three minutes into the match the Cougars earned a free kick that was placed over the goalkeeper's head for the opening goal of the game.
- The two sides went into halftime with the same score at 1-0, the Regents at a disadvantage in the shot category at 6 and 4.
- Later into the second half, the Cougars got another free kick from nearly the same spot on the opposite end of the field. Medelin Loza placed the free kick in the top of the net and goalkeeper Elizabeth Elison couldn't keep it out, giving CUC its second goal of the match at the 75th minute mark.
- The Regents didn't get many opportunities to get back into the match after the second goal, falling to the Cougars after 90 minutes 2-0.
