LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team completed a second-half comeback win with a pair of late goals against
NACC opponent Lakeland University. The Muskies struck first with a goal in the 55th minute, but the Regents responded with two goals of their own, most notably
Pietro
Braccialini scoring the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to secure the 2-1 victory.
- Both sides failed to find the back of the net after the first half concluded, Lakeland had some golden opportunities but were denied multiple times by goalkeeper Gustavo Lazcano, who recorded 9 saves.
- The first goal came in the early part of the second half. Lakeland had some nice passing that ended with a cross into the box and put away by the Muskies to make it 1-0.
- LU held the lead for almost 20 minutes before a golden cross from Nolan Beard met the foot of Andrew Roth who scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute of play.
- The Regents searched for a second goal and finally scored with less than two minutes remaining on the clock. A free kick ball from Javier Palacios was placed into the box where Pietro Braccialini headed it into the back of the net to take the lead 2-1.
- Rockford played very defensive for the rest of the match and kept the Muskies from scoring, winning at the final whistle 2-1.
