Women's Basketball Defeated by Edgewood

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team was rocked by the Edgewood College Eagles in a difficult 81-29 Wednesday night game. Rockford's offense and defense both struggled against the Eagles, who were able to out maneuver the Regents on both ends of the floor. The Regents shot 11-72 (15.3 percent) from the field and shot 2-33 (6.1 percent) from beyond the arc. Edgewood on the other hand, put on a shooting clinic, hitting 57.4 percent of the teams shots. Edgewood led for the entire game and never looked back, winning by a 81-29 final score.

  • Edgewood got off to a fast start in the first quarter, scoring five unanswered points before Audrina Terhune finally got Rockford going with a layup.
  • After the Regents first basket, the Eagles continued to pour it on, scoring another seven unanswered points and forcing a Rockford timeout with 4:21 left in the first quarter.
  • The Eagles capped off the quarter on an 8-5 run, Julie Bailey and Katie Paredes helped Rockford with a three and two-pointer, respectively. Edgewood carried a large 13-point lead into the break at 20-7.
  • The Regents got the first basket of the second quarter on a jump shot by Audrina Terhune. Edgewood continued its offensive domination however, going on a 16-5 run over the next 5:43 of the quarter to extend the lead to 22 points at 36-14.
  • RU managed to keep up with Edgewood for the remainder of the quarter, Brenna Hubbard scored four points to Edgewood's three total points, and the sides went into halftime with Edgewood up 39-18.
  • It was a very tough third quarter for the Regents, only able to score six total points over the ten-minute period compared to the Eagles 25. Edgewood carried an enormous lead of 40 into the final quarter with the score 64-24. The third quarter highlight came from Allie Wintemute hitting a three pointer with 25 seconds left on the clock.
  • With the game out of reach for the Regents, Edgewood didn't slow down, winning the final quarter with a 17-5 run to finish off the game with a final score of 81-29.
