Big Second Half Lifts Regents Over the Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (10-9, 6-7 NACC) outscored Dominican University 39-23 in the second half, en route to 59-49 road win over the Stars (3-16, 2-11 NACC) on Tuesday night. Ultimately it was Rockford's dominance on the glass and huge advantage in second chance points, that led to the comeback victory. The Regents nearly doubled up the Stars on the boards, outrebounding Dominican 63-37, which led to a decisive 29-2 advantage in second chance points. Anaya Davis was once again a major reason why the Regents were able to dominate the glass. Davis posted her fourth 20-rebound game and her third 20-point, 20-rebound game of the season, with a game-high 25 points and 22 rebounds.

  • The game went back-and-forth for the remainder of the period, with Dominican retaking the lead and heading into the fourth with a 38-36 advantage.
  • With Dominican still clinging to a 45-43 lead midway through the fourth quarter, Rockford hunkered down defensively and held the Stars to just four points over the final 5:22.
