ELGIN, Ill. - The RU men's volleyball team (2-8) were defeated 3-0 against the Lincoln College Lynx (3-6) in the team's first match of the day at the Judson Invitational. The Regents led in both kills and digs, but Lincoln was able to win with a 13-22 advantage in errors that made the difference in the match. Rockford had a chance in all three sets, managing to reach 20 or more points in each, but couldn't seal the deal. The Regents will look to bounce back when they face Olivet Nazarene in their final match of the Invite.
- The Lynx jumped out ahead in the first set of the match, going up 10-3.
- Rockford responded quickly and tied the game shortly after at 12-12. Josh Albers had a nice ace during that span.
- The Regents and Lincoln traded points to a score of 22-20 in the Lynx favor. Lincoln too the set with three straight points to go up 1-0 in the set score.
- The second set started with a short trade of points between the two sides. Lincoln created a solid lead towards the middle of the set, taking a 17-9 lead.
- Rockford was not done yet however, taking nine of the next 10 points to tie the set at 18, giving them a chance.
- The Lynx took the next two points and the Regents never caught back up, trading back and forth points all the way to the set point, when the Lynx took the set on the final point 25-22.
- The third set was more of the same, the Regents kept up with the Lynx but were never able to secure a lead of their own.
- Lincoln went up 22-13 looking to seal the deal, but Rockford grabbed eight of the next ten points to put the score at 24-21. Unfortunately, the Lynx captured the final point and took the set and the match, winning 3-0.
