Men's Volleyball Comes Up Short Against St. Norbert

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (2-13, 0-4 NACC) had multiple opportunities against St. Norbert College (3-7, 1-3 NACC) but couldn't make ends meet, falling in straight sets 3-0. St. Norbert dominated the kills (43-27) and blocks (10-5) categories that held Rockford in check for nearly the entire match. SNC was also able to hit 24.5 percent on attacks while the Regents struggled to stay positive, hitting 8 percent overall.

  • RU started out strong, going up 8-5. St. Norbert bounced back right after to tie the game at 8-8 with three straight points.
  • Rockford took the lead back with a four-point run to take a 12-8 lead. Jose Padron had a great ace to help the lead.
  • The two sides traded points for a short period, until the Regents pulled even further ahead, going up 19-13.
  • St. Norbert flipped the tables however, scoring 10 of the next 13 points to take the Green Knights first lead of the match at 23-22.
  • It was a battle that followed, both sides traded points to 25 each, then SNC sealed the set with two straight points to win the first with a score of 27-25.
  • At the start of the second set, neither side could establish a solid lead, until the Regents pulled away with a 7-1 run to take a 15-11 lead.
  • Deja vu happened immediately after, St. Norbert captured 10 of the next 13 points again to take a 21-18 lead.
  • The Green Knights traded points with the Regents until they hit 25, winning the second set 25-22.
  • The third set was in St. Norbert's control from the beginning, taking a huge 12-5 lead.
  • Rockford made some gains after to pull the score to 16-13, but St. Norbert piled on more points to extend the lead again to 20-13.
  • The two sides traded points again before the Green Knights took the 25th point to win the third set and the match, with a final score of 25-18.
