ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (3-20, 0-9 NACC) was beaten by Edgewood College (5-12, 2-5 NACC) in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-16) in an early Saturday afternoon match. It was a close battle for the first two sets, but the Eagles were able to get two late pushes to give them the wins in both sets. The third set was less of a challenge as Edgewood ran away with it, winning without much pressure to take the match 3-0.
Nathan Vana had a good defensive showing with a season-high 3 blocks, two of which were solo blocks.
- Edgewood started out in front by a score of 6-3. Rockford took its first lead of the game shortly after on a four-point run to make it 7-6. Connor McNear recorded a kill during the run.
- The two sides traded points until Edgewood took back the lead and started building to a four-point cushion at 19-15.
- Edgewood continued to pressure the Regents until the set was out of reach and the final kill went to Edgewood. The Eagles took set one 25-19.
- Rockford started in control of the second set, up 11-7. A number of different Regents contributed to the lead.
- Edgewood came back with a 15-6 run that put then back ahead and ready to take the second set with the score at 22-17.
- Each side scored three more points, but Edgewood reached 25 to take the second set 25-20.
- Rockford fell apart early in the third set, falling behind 20-5. Edgewood went with its backup players for the remainder of the set as Rockford was able to get to 16 before Edgewood sealed the deal 25-16, taking the final set and the match.
- Jose Padron led the Regents in kills with 7. He also led in digs with 4.
- Nathan Vana finished with a team-high 3 blocks.
- Josh Albers recorded 18 assists at the setter position.
- Isaiah Dixon had 2 aces for the second game in a row.
