Men's Volleyball Shutout on the Road at Lakeland

Box Score PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (3-16, 0-6 NACC) lost all three sets to Lakeland University (4-6, 1-4 NACC) on Saturday afternoon. The Regents struggled out of the gate but continuously got better as the match went on. Rockford ultimately couldn't secure a set win, losing all 3 (15-25, 20-25, 22-25) and conceding the match. The Regents will reset and come back home for a game against Benedictine next week on March 9th.

  • Lakeland got off to a fast start, running up a 15-7 lead to start the first set.
  • The Regents tried to pull back into the set but were continuously being beaten offensively, eventually falling in the first set 25-15.
  • Rockford came out stronger to start the second set, battling Lakeland back and forth, neither team taking more than a two-point lead.
  • At 10-11, Lakeland began a run that the Regents would not come back from. The Muskies built a 4-point lead at 18-14, and the Regents couldn't find the points to get back into the set, missing out on the second set, 25-20.
  • The third set was where the Regents performed their best. Lakeland was able to pull out to a 7-2 lead to start the set, but Rockford responded.
  • RU went on a 10-1 run to take the lead in the middle of the set. Jose Padron recorded two kills in the run and Trey Perez served a solid ace.
  • The Regents held the lead at 12-8, but the Muskies came swimming back with four straight points to tie the set at 12-12.
  • Both sides traded points for a short period, but Lakeland got a four-point run to fall its way, taking the lead 20-15.
  • Rockford scored three straight following that run, but the Muskies got too far out and were able to win the race to 25 points, taking the third and final set of the match 25-22.
