LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team (0-1) lost its home opener against Monmouth College (1-0) in a 2-1 battle Thursday morning. The Regents were outshot 19-9 by the time the game ended, with RU's only goal coming from
Autumn Huntington on a great pass by
Rianna Tovar in the 15th minute.
- The Regents opened the scoring early on with a counter-attack that led to an Autumn Huntington goal and Rianna Tovar assist in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
- Rockford held onto the lead for 15 minutes before Monmouth capitalized on a rebound off of the crossbar to tie the match 1-1.
- Shortly after in the 33rd minute, the Scots scored again when a cross came through the box and found the foot of Lizzy Gould to give them a 2-1 lead.
- Rockford was able to get 5 shots off in the second half but couldn't find the net, opening the season with a loss 2-1.
