FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team fell 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Marian University. The Sabres were in control for pretty much the entire match, outshooting Rockford 27-1. However, the Regents were very efficient with their one shot, as
Samara Tanchuck found the back of the net in the 79th minute for Rockford's lone goal.
- Despite the what the final score might indicate, the first half of the match was extremely close.
- The lone goal in the opening half came in the tenth minute off the foot of Ashley Welk and gave Marian a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
- Unfortunately, Marian scored a trio of goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half to grab a 4-0 lead and seize control of the match.
- The Sabres added one final goal in the 78th minute off the foot of Lillian Giron to make it a 5-0 match.
- Rockford was finally able to break through with an impressive goal from Samara Tanchuck in the 79th minute of the match. Tanchuck was assisted on the play by both Joleen Alvarado and Lorena Perez.
- However, it was not meant to be, as the Regents fell by a final score of 5-1.
