LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (0-0-2) battled back to earn a draw against St. Mary's (1-0-2) in a final score of 2-2. St. Mary's got the opening two goals in the first 14 minutes of the match, but the Regents capitalized on a rebound and converted a stunning shot from outside the box to get the draw.
- St. Mary's scored in the 4th minute of the contest off a lucky rebound that gave them a perfect opportunity to score, taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Cardinals found the net again shortly after in the 14th minute, a hard shot went perfectly through the group of bodies in front of the net and went into the lower left side of the net.
- Rockford was left scoreless until the 61st minute when Javier Palacios tapped in a ball that fell in front of him to pull back within one goal at 2-1.
- The Regents finally got an answered prayer in the 85th minute, Joshua De Avila took the ball outside the box and sent in a shot that went perfectly into the upper right corner of the net, with no chance for the goalkeeper to get to it, tying the match 2-2.
- Both sides took one additional shot before the end of the game, but the final whistle blew, and Rockford had its second tie in two games.
