RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team dropped a tough 3-0 match on the road Wednesday afternoon to Dominican University. The Regents fought tooth and nail the entire match with the 12-time NACC Regular Season Champion Stars, but it was a flurry of goals that ultimately did Rockford in. The Stars scored their first two goals of the afternoon over a two-minute span early in the second half and took control of the match. Dominican continued to put pressure on the Regent defense for the remainder of the day, and tacked on a late goal in the 79th minute to secure a 3-0 victory. Despite the loss, Rockford is still currently in good position to qualify for the NACC Tournament. Prior to the completion of the rest of Wednesday's matches, the Regents sit in sixth place in the conference, with the top eight teams qualifying for the postseason tournament.
- The Regents and Stars entered the half scoreless following a defensive struggle over the first 45 minutes.
- Dominican was able to break through with the first goal of the match in the 61st minute. Ryan Gutierrez took a pass from Ciaran Geraghty and found the back of the net to give the Stars a 1-0 advantage.
- The Stars would then make it a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute off a goal from Oscar Montejano in lower half of the net.
- Dominican added another late goal in the 79th minute by Yael Gonzalez to extend its lead to 3-0.
- Rockford's Javier Palacios had a couple of scoring chances over the final 11 minutes, but unfortunately, was denied by the Dominican keeper on both occasions, as Rockford fell by a final score of 3-0.
- Andrik Vidaurri finished with 8 saves in the match. Vidaurri currently leads the NACC with 65 saves.
- Javier Palacios led the Regents with 6 shots and 3 shots on goal.
