PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team lost 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in its penultimate match of the season to the Lakeland University Muskies. Lakeland outshot the Regents 10-3 in the first half, including netting a pair of goals to take a 2-0 advantage into the break. Rockford cut the deficit in half at the 50-minute mark when
Rianna Tovar scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Muskies struck for a pair of goals in just over a 2-minute span during the next seven minutes of action to seal the victory.
- Lakeland broke the scoreless tie in the 16th minute on a Mikayla Belasco goal.
- The Muskies would add a second score in the 28th minute, when Jenna Caterino found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
- Rockford had a couple of scoring opportunities late in the half, but both shots by Mia Ostler and Rianna Tovar were saved by the Muskie keeper, and Lakeland took a 2-0 lead into the break.
- Rianna Tovar continued to pepper the net early in the second half with a pair of shots on goal over the first five minutes. The second of the two came on a penalty kick that Tovar converted into her team-leading ninth goal of the season and cut the Muskie lead down to 2-1.
- Unfortunately, Lakeland would put the game out of reach over the next seven minutes of play. Lakeland's Marlen Reyes and Alondra Reyes each scored goals during a 2-minute stretch to make it a 4-1 Muskie advantage.
- The Regents had multiple shots on target throughout the remainder of the match, but were turned away each time, as the Muskies held on for the 4-1 victory.
