Women's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Elmhurst

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell 72-61 at home on Saturday afternoon to the Elmhurst University Bluejays. Rockford got off to a strong start, taking a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the Bluejays outscored the Regents 27-15 in the second, to take control of the game. Elmhurst led by as many as 15 midway through the third, but Rockford closed the period on a 10-0 run climb back to within five points. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Regents would get for the remainder of the day. Statistically it was a fairly even game, but Elmhurst was able to take advantage in a couple of key areas. The biggest of the those came in turnovers and points off turnovers. Elmhurst forced 24 turnovers and converted them in 24 points, while Rockford forced 16 turnovers but converted them into only 10 points.
