ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team had a player recognized for the fourth straight season by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Wednesday afternoon when it released its 2023 postseason awards. Senior defensive specialist/libero Brynn Atwell earned NACC Honorable mention status for the first time in her collegiate career, and she also becomes the first Rockford University defensive specialist or libero to earn All-NACC status.  

Senior libero/defensive specialist Brynn Atwell was rewarded for her excellent senior season with a NACC Honorable Mention selection. Atwell led the Regent defense and finished the regular season ranked in the top eight in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in multiple categories. She was third in the NACC in digs per set (4.96) and eighth in total digs (382), despite playing in 22 less sets than the conference leader. Atwell also hit a career milestone this past year and came within an eyelash of breaking multiple RU career records. She tallied her 1,000th career dig in a neutral site match on September 23, 2023 against Judson University. Atwell then finished her career with 1,247 digs, which was only 143 away from breaking the school record. She also averaged 4.01 digs per set over her four-year stint as a Regent, which was just 0.03 below the RU record for a career.
