ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team took a heartbreaking 68-66 loss to The University of Olivet in a Monday night non-conference match up. In a game with 7 ties and 11 lead changes, this was a back-and-forth affair that took two overtimes to decide a winner. The statistics show the same thing with a slight (37.5% - 36.1%) advantage from the field and a small (17.6% - 16.1%) lead from three-point range for Olivet. Rockford was able to force 29 turnovers, but only turned those into 18 points, while Olivet forced 25 turnovers and converted those into 26 points. The Regents did play solid defense, holding the Comets to just 14.29% (2-14) in the first quarter, 30.77% (4-13) in the third quarter, and 25% (1-4) shooting in the second overtime. Unfortunately, Olivet was able to finally put the game away in double overtime and walk away with a 68-66 win.
- Both teams got off to a bit of a slow start with a 6-2 lead for Olivet midway through the first quarter.
- The Regents were able to tie the game up after three free throws from Emily Rich to tie it at 9-9, then Rockford got 2 points from Kyla Wilkerson and 2 from Katie Paredes and took a 13-10 lead after one.
- Rockford was able to go on a slight 7-4 run and take a 20-14 lead after two free throws from D'Asia Washington to make it a 20-14 game.
- Olivet went on a 12-4 run shortly after and took a 26-24 lead with just over a minute left in the half.
- Olivet continued to pull away from Rockford, taking a 6-point, 30-24 lead into halftime.
- Rockford was able to quickly grab the lead after a 9-point swing, to give the Regents a 39-33 lead after 6 points from Kyla Wilkerson and 3 from Nia Wilkerson.
- The Comets cut the lead to just 2 going into the fourth quarter to make it a 41-39 ball game.
- Rockford grabbed the first 11 points of the fourth quarter, led by 5 points from Nia Wilkerson, making it 52-42 Rockford.
- Olivet stormed right back and went on a 15-2 run, taking a 57-54 lead with 18 seconds left, However Kyla Wilkerson was able to come in clutch and knock down a huge three-pointer with 3 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime.
- The Regents found their way to a 63-61 lead with 13 seconds left in the first overtime, but Olivet was able to equalize the game with 7 seconds left and force a second overtime.
- The second overtime was also a close affair, with Olivet taking a one-point, 67-66 advantage with 38 seconds left, Rockford threatened to tie the game again, but Olivet was able to hold them off and secure the hard-fought 68-66 win.
- Nia Wilkerson picked up new season-highs in points (17) and blocks (1), also picking up 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 assists.
- Kyla Wilkerson had a season-high 11 points, on a solid 4-6 (66.7%) day and hit the game-tying shot to force overtime.
- Grace Vyborny had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and a season-high 7 steals.
- Katie Paredes had 7 points, ties her career best with 6 steals, and also picked up a season-high 9 rebounds.
