ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team took the loss 72-57 to the visiting Edgewood College Eagles in a Wednesday night NACC showdown. Edgewood was in control of the game, leading in field goal percentage 53% - 24%, three-point percentage 33% - 16%, and free throw percentage 81% - 62%. Defensively the Regents were able to force 21 turnovers and turn those into 16 points, The Eagles only were able to force 12 turnovers and were only able to convert those into 11 points. Rockford did threaten to make a comeback, making it a 7-point affair in the 4th quarter, but Edgewood was able to hold on and take the 72-57 win.
- This game got out to a 9-9 tie midway through the first quarter after a layup by Jocelyn Callahan to tie the game up.
- The first quarter remained a back and forth affair as each team traded points, and Jocelyn Callahan was able to nail a three-pointer with 14 seconds left in the first to give Rockford the 20-18 lead.
- The Eagles got out to a quick lead in the second quarter, with an 8-2 run to start the quarter and get out to a 26-20 lead.
- Edgewood then went on a 10-6 run to round out the first half and take a 10-point, 36-26 lead into the half over the Regents.
- The Eagles quickly added onto their lead in the third quarter as they found themselves with a 44-29 advantage over Rockford.
- Edgewood continued to find its groove with a 16-8 run over Rockford and took a 60-37 lead into the forth quarter.
- The Regents started out the quarter with an impressive 16-0 run, highlighted by 5 points from Tyra Clark, Rockford also held Edgewood to no points in the forth quarter until a free throw with 90 seconds left.
- The Eagles were able to overcome to almost comeback by Rockford and take the win 72-57.
- D'Asia Washington had 8 points, a season-high 14 rebounds, and a solid 6-6 day from the free-throw line.
- Tyra Clark led the team with 11 points, also grabbing 7 rebounds.
