ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team was defeated by the Dominican University Stars 59-66 in a home conference game Wednesday night. Dominican snuck by the Regents late in the game after the Regents struggled on offense, shooting 20 percent in the fourth quarter. Multiple Regents in foul trouble and unfortunate injuries only added on to the Regents demise, as they fell to the Stars 59-66.
- Dominican and Rockford traded points to begin the game, working the score to 18-15 after one quarter. Tyra Clark and Audrina Terhune led the offense with five and four points, respectively.
- Rockford took control in the second quarter, starting with a 5-2 run to tie the game at 20, thanks to a pair of Tyra Clark free throws and a clutch Julie Bailey three-pointer.
- Jocelyn Callahan knocked down a three right after Bailey's, giving the Regents the lead at 23-20. Rockford didn't give up the lead for the rest of the quarter, holding Dominican in an 8-6 run before halftime. Katie Paredes scored half of the Regents eight points in the run, making a pair of layups. RU was in control at the break, up 31-26.
- The first four minutes after the break, Rockford built up its highest lead of the game (12) in an 11-4 run to create a 42-30 lead.
- Dominican wasted no time getting back into the game however, dominating the remainder of the game. The Stars finished the quarter on a 14-6 run that pulled them within four points with the score at 48-44 before the start of the fourth.
- DU carried this momentum into the final quarter, shutting down the Rockford offense in a 22-11 run over the final quarter.
- Dominican took the lead 57-54 with 5:18 to go on the clock, never giving it back the rest of the way. Rockford had multiple late game opportunities to get back into the game but could not convert, falling to the Stars with a final score of 66-59.
- Katie Paredes led in scoring with 14 points. She also grabbed 9 rebounds, another team-high.
- Audrina Terhune finished with 12 points and a team-high of 3 assists.
- Jocelyn Callahan hit a team-high 2 threes on her way to 11 points and 5 rebounds.
