ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell 73-42 at the hands of Lakeland University on Saturday afternoon. The Regents were battling with the Muskies for only the first quarter before LU began pulling away and never looked back. Lakeland created a huge deficit having their bench outscore the Regents bench 39-10, resulting in a win for the Muskies.
- Rockford looked to be in control after a 6-6 start turned into a 7-2 Regent run behind a pair of baskets and a three-pointer by Lexi Keating.
- It quickly turned sour for RU however, Lakeland rallied for a 12-2 run over the final 3:57 of the quarter, taking a 20-15 lead after one quarter.
- Lakeland started quarter two on an 8-4 run. Katie Paredes scored the four points for the Regents.
- Audrina Terhune stepped up shortly after, hitting a pair of three-pointers to pull the game within 3 at 28-25.
- The Regents offense got cold after those two baskets, not scoring another before the halftime buzzer. The Muskies put eight more points on the board and carried an 11-point lead into halftime.
- Coming out of halftime, LU kept the pressure on but the Regents kept up, thanks in large part to Katie Paredes scoring the first six points of the second half.
- After the four-minute mark of the third quarter, Lakeland returned to its dominating offense, taking an 11-2 run to the end of the period. Katie Paredes once again scored the basket for Rockford.
- The fourth was more of the same, forcing an 18-7 run over the entire quarter that finished off any chances the Regents had of coming back, leaving the final score at 79-42.
- Katie Paredes stepped up in a big way, scoring a team-high 16 points with a team-high 4 steals. She also had 5 rebounds.
- Audrina Terhune was the other double-digit scorer with 12 points and team-highs in assists (5) and rebounds (7).
