BOURBANNAIS, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets on Saturday afternoon at Olivet Nazarene University. The Regents dropped the first and third sets by identical 25-18 scores and fell 25-6 in the second. Unfortunately, Rockford struggled to get in a rhythm pretty much the entire afternoon. The Regents only briefly led in the first set and never led in either the second or third sets. The loss drops Rockford to 0-2 all-time against the Tigers.
- Isaiah Dixon opened the match with two straight kills to help give the Regents an early 3-1 lead.
- However, Olivet Nazarene responded with a 6-0 run of its own and jumped back in front 7-3.
- The Tigers' lead then hovered around five points for the majority of the rest of the set. With ONU now out in front 18-13, the Tigers scored the next three points to take the largest lead for either team.
- Rockford was unable to get any closer than six the rest of the way and dropped the first set 25-18.
- The Regents struggled to get much of anything going in the second set.
- Olivet Nazarene strung together a 9-2 run and a 9-0 run en route to winning the set 25-6 and taking a 2-0 lead.
- The third and final set was nearly identical to the first.
- The Regents and Tigers traded points in the opening moments, resulting a 4-4 tie.
- Olivet Nazarene then went on an 8-1 run, including scoring six straight points, to grab a 12-5 advantage.
- With Rockford still trailing 19-11, the Regents scored the next four points and cut the deficit in half. Derek Jones and Joseph Hinckley each had a kill over that span.
- Unfortunately, that was as close as Rockford got, dropping the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
