LISLE, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell at the hands of Benedictine University 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 16-25) on Wednesday night. The Eagles controlled the momentum for most of the match, holding the Regents outside striking distance. Benedictine marched to the final point of set three, winning the match in straight sets.
- Benedictine got off to a fast start, not allowing Rockford to get within less than three points as they worked the score to 13-9.
- The Eagles took off after that point, running away with the set with the score at 22-11.
- Rockford battled, earning a pair of kills by Isaiah Dixon, but unable to overcome the deficit, dropping the first set 25-17.
- The second set was a balanced fight, including a four-point run by the Regents to keep the score even as they reached 12-12. Danny Karpenko made huge contributions with five kills from the start of the set to the 12-12 score.
- The Eagles didn't slow down however, going on a 13-4 run to close out the set and secure the 25-16 set win.
- Rockford was off to a hot start in set three, going up 4-1.
- Benedictine evened the score shortly after, and quickly jumped in front 10-7 after a 9-3 run.
- Rockford and Benedictine traded points back-and-forth until reaching a 12-13 score in the Eagles favor.
- Benedictine scored three-straight to go up 16-12, and held the four-point lead until they reached 20-16.
- The Eagles capped off the match with five-straight points to take the set and the match with a final set score of 25-16.
- Danny Karpenko led in kills with 8. He also had a team-high .538 hitting percentage.
- Josh Albers had a team-high 26 assists and 6 digs.
- Isaiah Dixon finished with 6 kills, a service ace, and 3 digs.
