MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 on road Saturday afternoon to the Edgewood College Eagles. The Regents struggled to get much of anything going for the majority of the match, as Edgewood never trailed in the first or third sets and only briefly trailed in the second. Despite all of that, Rockford was still within striking distance late in all three sets. Unfortunately, Edgewood closed the first set on a 7-2 run, the second on a 5-1 run and the third on a 6-0 run for the 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 victory.
- The opening set was tight for most of the way, despite the Regents never leading. After Edgewood initially jumped out to a three-point lead, the Regents twice tied the score at 9-9 and 11-11. However, the Eagles promptly scored the next three points to jump back out in front 14-11.
- With Edgewood still leading by two at 18-16, the Eagles closed on a 7-2 run to take the opening set 25-18.
- The second set got off to a better start, with Rockford taking an early 5-2 advantage. The Regents maintained a lead until midway through the set, when the Eagles went on a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the set at 16-12.
- With Rockford now trailing by just two at 20-18 following an Isaiah Dixon kill and an attack error, Edgewood scored five of the final six points to win the second set 25-19 and take a 2-0 advantage.
- The third set got off to a rocky start, as the Eagles flew out to a quick 10-4 lead.
- The Regents were able to get back to within four at 15-11, following kills from Danny Karpenko and Nathan Vana and a Josh Albers service ace.
- Unfortunately, Rockford could not get any closer than that the rest of the way, dropping the third set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
