FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Rockford University baseball team faced a costly sixth and seventh inning on its way to a 10-4 defeat against Rhode Island College. The Regents and Anchormen were all tied at one when Rhode Island scored nine total runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take the lead. Rockford could not overcome the deficit and had its bottom of the ninth comeback cut short, losing 10-4.
- The two sides were quiet on offense to start the game, recording five total hits between the two teams.
- Rockford got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third. Will Hissong walked with two outs, followed by singles by Jake Bilotta and Joseph Stagowski that brought Hissong around to score. Rockford took the lead 1-0.
- Rhode Island quickly responded in the top of the fourth. A triple and a wild pitch brought an Anchormen run in to score and tie the game.
- The tie wasn't broken until the top of the sixth inning. Rhode Island put a pair of runners on base and a sacrifice fly and a single brought both runners in to take a 3-1 lead.
- Later in the same inning, with runners on second and third, the Anchormen hit a single to score both runners and extend the lead to 5-1.
- Rhode Island College recorded five more runs in the seventh inning to put the contest well out of reach.
- The Regents didn't record another run until the bottom of the ninth. Malik Abdallah smacked a home run to start the inning and pull the score to 10-2. Later, back-to-back doubles by Scott Gowan and Logan Watson brought in another run. Watson scored in the next at-bat when Will Hissong hit a single. The Regents trailed 10-4.
- After a pitching change by Rhode Island College, the Rockford offense stalled, and the Anchormen recorded the final out, earning the win 10-4.
