FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Rockford University baseball team fell in a 15-0 rout at the hands of Muskingum University. The Regents trailed by three for the majority of the game, until a 12-run eighth inning put the contest out of reach. The Fighting Muskies made short work of RU in the top of the ninth, earning the victory.
- Muskingum opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with three-straight singles to make it 1-0.
- A pair of singles eventually scored a second run for the Fighting Muskies. A third run scored in the third after an error in the infield, putting the score at 3-0.
- Both offenses were silent from the top of the fourth until the bottom of the eighth. Nicholas Ramirez, Vernon McKinley II, Alex Easton, and Chris Hawks all pitched an inning in relief and held Muskingum without a hit during their respective outings.
- The game quickly turned sour in the bottom of the eighth. The Regents had no solutions for the Fighting Muskies hitting attack. Twelve runs crossed the plate by the end of the inning, putting the game well out of reach at 15-0.
- Rockford failed to get the offense going in the ninth inning, conceding the final out of the game.
