ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team claimed victory over the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23) in its final match of the season. The Regents gave up the first set but came back to win three-straight, earning their second win over the Warriors this season.
Isaiah Dixon made a statement on offense, earning 18 kills during the match to propel the Rockford offense.
- Wisconsin Lutheran was hot to start, going up 9-4 in set one.
- The Regents battled back to within one point at 14-13. Isaiah Dixon and Connor McNear each contributed two kills.
- The Warriors then captured a 9-3 run to put them well ahead at 23-16.
- Rockford tried to get back into the set again but came up short, losing the first set 25-20.
- The Regents started out in front of set two, up 6-4.
- WLC once again responded, this time with a 7-0 run to go ahead 11-6.
- The Regents then added their own run, going 10-2 to take the lead back later in the set 16-13. Isaiah Dixon had six kills during the run including five in a row.
- Rockford clawed ahead further, leading 22-17 before the two sides traded points until the set point, Rockford taking it by a final score of 25-20.
- Neither side could gain an advantage in set three. Rockford started up 6-3, but WLC took the lead back 7-6. A run by the warriors shortly after extended the lead to 16-11, but Rockford came back to tie the set at 19-19.
- The two sides traded points back-and-forth after a time out, until Rockford managed to finally go up and get the two-point victory 26-24.
- After stumbling into set four, Rockford took the lead 7-5 after earning four-straight points.
- The two sides were locked in a battle once again as the Warriors stayed within two points of the Regents through almost the entire set.
- The two sides were even at 22 until Joseph Hinckley earned a kill to put the Regents up. WLC responded and tied the match at 23, with someone needing to win by two.
- Joseph Hinckley came up big again after a service error put the Regents back in front. Hinckley delivered the final blow that earned Rockford the 25-23 set win and the match victory 3-1.
- Isaiah Dixon had a team-high 18 kills, and finished with 8 digs, an ace, and a block.
- Josh Albers earned 44 assists while adding 2 aces, 2 blocks, and 10 digs.
- Joseph Hinckley earned a team-high 12 digs and had 9 kills and a block.
